Hello my sweet friends,
I've been blessed this week by others' stories and ideas. Maybe I need to be filled and encouraged -- or maybe I'm just blessed to have some really wise friends! Either way....
Here's a great devotional to encourage you, especially if you're facing a long trial or unemployment. The devotional comes through Jeff Kapusta's church in Wilmington, NC. The post is "September 16" (middle column) in this link: Just Keep Swimming. I don't know Ryan, but I sure appreciate his story. I hope you'll be blessed as well.
Let's keep encouraging one another in faith, as Jesus taught us to do.
Have a tremendous weekend, my friends!

This was a really nice read. In other terms, I guess that is how I have been trying to deal with my dad's passing on labor day, I "just keep swimming" or else I feel like I am going to drown in the sorrow of missing my dad so much and trying to make sense of it. I keep pressing on and moving forward and knowing that he is at peace and in a better place.
Thank for a lovely post:)
Madison,
I pray that your heart will remember your dad fondly and that you start feeling like you again soon. We just take one day -- and the next and the next.
I told a friend recently that all you need to ask God for is strength for today. I pray each day that this will be your prayer.
Love,
Karen
Hi - thanks for your encouraging words on my blog; I've clicked on the follow button and fingers are crossed that GFC is going to work for me this week.
I love this comment from Finding Nemo - it is something I often mumble to myself, post on FB and say to my kidlets. I am hopping over to the link in your post.
Have a great weekend!

ps - stopping by from vb too!
Thanks for sharing this...I hope you have a tremendous weekend as well.

Thanks for your cross post. He has a fun analogy with sweet, little, crazy Dora!
I especially liked his comment:
She stayed upbeat and faithful until she and Marlin found Nemo. They faced many challenges in their efforts to rescue Nemo, but they made for some great stories!
Well, I love Dory, and I think the message is a great one. "Just keep swimming." Though it's hard to forget hardships of the past, we have to do it to move forward, and forward is where we want to go. Visiting you from vB members to remember.
"Just keep swimming." great message and so true, while many of us go thru difficult times. We tend to forget and get caught up with the "problem" instead of maybe looking at it as an opportunity or lesson and being grateful when we finally make it to shore.
Karen, thank you for sharing. I am inspired. I started off this evening dreading that I must go to work tomorrow morning. How very selfish of me. I have gone through the trials of unemployment...I have changed my frame of mind and will start my week off with gratitude that I have a job! I needed this reminder and so thankful that I came across your post via Members to Remember, vB.

Thanks so much for this post :) And Finding Nemo is one of my favorite movies, haha!
I love this devotional...amazing how Dory from Finding Nemo can be used for our everyday trials and tribulations. I think I'm going to print off a big picture of Dory and Marlin with the caption in all CAPS "JUST KEEP SWIMMING" and hang it in my office! Thank you for sharing.....
LOL- Sometimes, "just keep floundering" is a bit more realistic. Right now, my family has fallen on hard times. We're facing some criticism, more lack of support than I care to admit (time to delete some facebook 'friends") and we're struggling to keep our heads above water. But we keep on keepin' on. There's no other choice. so we might as well. It's easier to see the good things, the blesings, along the way if we just hunker down and get ready for it.
I'm here from voiceboks. Following you now too!
Brae,
I totally understand. I spent years "floundering" though it was mostly my own fault. Sigh.
I just wrote another post about the Israelites. I hope that you find more of the love that we need and less complaining and judgment to pull you down. Please - If I can pray specifically for a situation, email me (contact me page) so we can keep in touch.
I'm not perfect -- don't have the answers to anything -- but I pray and encourage well a la Jesus :)
Love,
Karen
This is the attitude I like to have when things get rough and I feel like I'm drowning...whether it's at work, home, both. At the same time I always remember to thank God for my blessings... because those are things that also help me stay afloat. =)
Following you from VB.
Thanks for sharing.
