26 seconds!!!

I may qualify for bad mommy of the year. Working -- writing is work, right? -- I didn't notice the time. Something made me look at the clock, 8:09 a.m. YIKES! Ellie and I pray at 8:06 (ish) before she heads out the door. AND...

I hadn't packed her lunch yet!

"Ellie, quick. Get your shoes. I'll make your lunch. Where's your bag? Oh geesh. I'm probably going to take you to school today... I am so sorry, honey..."

The words streamed as I grabbed peanut butter and bread and slammed them down on the counter. Slap! Smack! Slather! Sandwich made in record time (I even managed to cut it in half as my princess prefers). Grab the sandwich bag and smoosh it in. Quick!

Grapes. Toss into bowl and slam on lid. (Slamming is faster than sealing, I think)

Juice box.

Pretzels.

Done!

26 seconds. Give or take. The clock still reads 8:09.

Dashing to the front door, I shoved her lunch bag into her backpack. I spun her around and plopped a kiss on her head.

We managed a prayer, "Dear Jesus, Thank you for helping us get done in time. Help Ellie to have a fun day and maybe learn something. Amen" and out the door.

She ran. She laughed. She turned to me with a wave.

"The kids are still there. Good job, Mom!"

She didn't freak out at the chaos. My chaos.

Good job, Ellie! I am very, very sorry I got lost in my stuff when it was your time.

I love you.
Mom

Aww it happens.
I wish we could send peanut butter to school! Would make the mornings so much easier.
Happy Weekend.

It does help, though I did pull out the drawer in the fridge hoping some cheesesticks might magically appear before resorting to the peanut butter!

There's no way you'll win bad mommy of the year for that, my dear! She made it with food! I've completely forgotten lunches, appointments, and even to pick them up from school!

Thanks, Jennifer. I've forgotten other things too. But, you're right. She got food!!! And liked it :)

You totally pulled it off, and there's nothing wrong with peanut butter, are you kidding me!;)

I love the humility of your post... We supermoms are only human... but, at the end of the day, the fact remains: yes, you are super! How you managed to do all that in 26 seconds is amazing! You deserve a trophy for that- or maybe a nice foot massage from the hubs :)

Good job, mom! :) It's cute how Elli turned around and told you good job.
