Prayers for Lovely - a little girl in Haiti

Five years ago, we received the most incredible fed ex delivery ever. I waited anxiously all morning for that letter. And then it came. Hands shaking, I signed for it, then I grabbed my purse and keys and rushed to Rob's office. Together, eyes watering, hands trembling, hearts thumping, we opened that package and "met" our daughter for the very first time. We studied her precious photo. We read the little bit of information written in English... and we fell in love. Head over heels.

We loved her before then, but... The moment we saw her, everything changed. The fierce protectiveness a mama feels for her baby was mine, instantly. Until we finally held her in our arms, I wondered if anyone comforted her when she cried. I prayed for her health. My heart ached to know if she was being loved like a baby should...

This past Tuesday, Haiti was struck by an incredible earthquake. One of the poorest countries in the world, most Haitian buildings are not built to withstand such a disaster. News reports say that those living in wood frame huts with aluminum roofs had the best chance of surviving without damage.

A little girl named Lovely - whose parents are waiting for her, just like we waited for Ellie - lives in one of those buildings, in an orphanage in Port au Prince, Haiti, only two miles from the epicenter of the earthquake.

Little Lovely probably doesn't know it yet, but she has a mama and a daddy waiting for her here in the United States. A mama and daddy who love her fiercely. Whose hearts ache for news that she is okay. Whose hearts ache to know if Lovely is being comforted amidst the chaos. They can't make it better. They can only pray for their Lovely.

Please join me today in praying for Lovely, that God will comfort her. Pray with me for her caregivers and the other kids in her orphanage, that God will provide strength to survive this tragedy. Pray with me for her parents, that, whatever the outcome, they know God - who was, is and always will be - is in control. Even if they can't understand it. Even as their hearts break. Pray for the people of Haiti and the many volunteers and missionaries, that God will comfort and care for them as only He can. Amen

Lovely's parents still have not gotten word on Lovely or her orphanage. They are trying to get emergency travel visas to go get her as her adoption is final. Please pray. If you want to get more involved, you can send letters to your congressman. Please contact your congressman and ask that they provide emergency visas.

Thank you.
