what is your dash?

Each man's life is but a breath. Psalm 39:5

"What is your dash?"... In a cemetery every tombstone has two dates engraved on it -- birth and death. In between those dates is a dash, representing what that person did from birth until death.

"What is your dash?" (Parent Fuel, by Barry St. Clair, p. 187)

Who are you?
Where are you going?
How will you get there?

As my son and his many friends prepare to graduate from high school, this my prayer for them.

Here is my prayer, set to music. Thanks Sandbox Gems for sharing! http://www.thedashmovie.com/

Blessings,

Very clever post.
A real thinker...
I'm sitting on my chair now, having to look up towards the sky and ponder.

Thanks Daniel. I bet you know the answers -- I've read your blog, remember?

Blessed day!

I love this thought. It makes me wish the dashes were a lot longer! They seem rather depressingly short if they're meant to represent all you've accomplished in your life!

Ahh, well, maybe by the time I need to worry about my dash there will be some high-tech touch screen tombstone that will play a little film if someone touches the dash. That would be nice!

Dropping by from voiceBoks MTR! Enjoy the rest of your week!

Yes, I need to work on my dash. Too many things that don't matter taking up space and the things that do not getting the right amount of attention. I'm sure you've seen the Dash video, yes? If not, it is well done and worth checking out....

Oh, so glad you got to view it then. It has been around for a while and I always love to pass it on. I cried the first few times I saw it too!!!

This is great and makes me a bit teary-eyed as my own kids are growing so quickly every day. Where does the time go? Thank you for sharing and giving me something important to think about today.
